James Carson, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon with the Next Generation Orthopedic and Spine Institute in both Humble and The Woodlands, Texas. Dr. Carson received his undergraduate from the University of Michigan with a degree in Biochemistry and a minor in Spanish. He began his medical studies at Saint John’s Hopkins University and earned a dual degree in medicine and Public Health.He went on to complete this Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Howard University and was fellowship trained in hip and knee replacements at the University of Chicago. He has significant experience performing joint replacement, but is extensively trained on treating the multitude of complications that can occur secondary to joint replacement. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Carson received his calling when he was still young. He knew he wanted to go into Orthopedic Surgery while in high school because of his lifetime in sports and exposure to the field as a patient. His decision to focus on joint replacement came while in medical school after completing a medical mission trip in which he replaced hips and knees of multiple patients restoring mobility and a lifetime of possibilities to so many people.

Dr. Carson cherishes his family and enjoys spending time and traveling with them to experience new cultures. He’s fluent in both English and Spanish. Dr. Carson is a sports fanatic and huge fan of all university of Michigan sports
